The Kostanay Cathedral Mosque, a magnificent structure, came into existence in 1893 through the generous contributions of Muslims residing in Tatarskaya Sloboda, now the Narimanovsky Market district. Since its inception, this mosque has carried two names: the official one, “Cathedral Mosque of the city of Kustanaya,” and the unofficial one, “Ak Mosque.” The latter was affectionately bestowed upon it by the city’s devout worshipers, symbolizing the mosque’s beauty and purity.
For over 120 years, the mosque’s elegant and distinctive architecture has graced the city’s landscape, earning its place as one of Kostanay’s most captivating landmarks. Its enduring charm and significance make it a cherished attraction for both residents and visitors alike.
