Established in 1989, the Astrophysical Observatory has been a focal point for research and educational activities. From 2006 to 2013, the university conducted comprehensive investigations into mesospheric silvery clouds, and these studies have led to the confirmation of their connection with weather and climate changes on Earth.
One of the observatory’s main attractions is the Ritchie-Chretien telescope system, which is the second largest telescope in the Republic of Kazakhstan, catering to various educational, research, and experimental tasks. Additionally, the observatory features a digital planetarium equipped with a projector that offers stunning real-time images of more than 3,000 stars in each hemisphere of the celestial sphere, allowing viewers to experience the starry sky from any location on Earth.
